A private suite reserves a room for one group. A shared sauna session sells individual places. Both need enough time for preparation between bookings, but their capacity rules differ.

What a bathhouse actually sells
Three things, usually in the same building:
- Private suites by the hour. A sauna or plunge room for two to six people. Between two bookings the room has to be cleaned, so a 60-minute slot occupies the room for 75 or 90.
- Shared sessions with a headcount. A communal sauna with 20 spots, a guided contrast session with 12, a breathwork class with 15.
- Memberships and passes. A monthly plan that covers some mix of the above, plus day passes, gift cards and corporate blocks.
Around that: a waiver every first-time guest has to sign, a retail shelf of robes and oils, and a front desk that needs to know who is arriving in the next 15 minutes.
Check private and shared capacity
Test a whole-suite booking and a single place in a shared session. Include turnaround and a resource used by both products. Verify which conflicts are prevented and which require staff intervention.
What the software has to do
- Book a suite as a resource with a cleaning buffer, so two bookings can never touch.
- Cap shared sessions per slot, with a waitlist when a spot opens.
- Run one membership with credits that spend differently on different session types.
- Collect the waiver on the guest's phone before the first visit, and show the front desk who has signed.
- Sell robes, oils and gift cards in the same checkout as the booking.
Check the schedule and resource boundaries in Gomry

Questions bathhouses ask

How do cleaning buffers work? Set the slot length to include the turnaround. A 60-minute session on a 90-minute schedule leaves 30 minutes the room cannot be booked.
Can walk-ins pay at the desk? Verify the supported in-person payment method for your account and location before depending on it at reception.
